Tina Dillard is owner of Quilting Affection in Waldorf, Maryland. She grew up watching her mom and aunt sew and quilt in Northern Idaho and first learned to quilt herself in the early 90’s by taking lessons at a local fabric store. Tina married her high school sweetheart and spent 20+ years as an Air Force wife, raising two boys and making a home wherever the military sent them. During this period she quilted off and on when time allowed. Her husband’s last military assignment was in the Washington DC area. There she worked for the Department of Agriculture doing data input and web design. During this time, she continued to quilt and also learned EQ7 where she found the love of designing quilt patterns. She entered one of her first original quilt designs at the Charles County Fair in Maryland where she won, “Best in Show”.
In 2011 she decided, along with the support from her family, to quit her government job and work full time creating a quilting business. Quilting Affection, started as a longarming service, then added a small online fabric store. Eventually, Tina decided to devote most of her time to pattern design this is how Quilting Affection evolved into an original pattern design company. Her patterns have represented new fabric collection for both Timeless Treasures and Island Batiks. She is also represents Island Batiks as an Ambassador.
Also, Tina is now sharing her knowledge of quilt design though lectures, trunk shows and workshops covering what goes into designing a pattern and how modern technology can be utilized.
